Volunteer at St George's

How a little time could make a big impact

Volunteer at St George’s

St. George’s Chaplaincy relies on volunteer support for a range of activities from cleaning the church to conducting worship to day-to-day parish administration.

It is the people that make the Church.

Would you have a few hours in the week to help out in a voluntary capacity? We are currently looking to fill the volunteer vacancies listed below.

Or are you looking for a different volunteer role?

Because of our ongoing reliance on volunteer support, we expect we will need help in other areas very soon.

If you´d like to make contact and express interest in volunteering in another area, please complete the form at the bottom of the page.

Congregational Warden, St George’s Church

Vacancy for Congregational Wardens

We owe a debt of gratitude to Gloria and Judith who have stepped down as congregational wardens after serving the church with great care and diligence.

The role essentially involves ensuring the smooth running of logistics at the local level – readers, intercessor, welcomers, refreshments, etc. They work with Chaplain and the Churchwardens to make sure the church is kept clean, tidy, safe and welcoming.

If you feel you might like to serve St George’s in this capacity, please have a word with Gloria, Judith, Caroline, Tris or Fr Louis.

Website Content Editor

This website, www.stgeorgesmalaga.com, is the front face of St George’s Church and the Malaga Chaplaincy. It has recently been upgraded to reflect the life of the Church and Chaplaincy today. But it is essential we keep it up to date.

Would you have an hour or two every few days to help us? This is not a technical role but rather a role for someone who can link in with what is going on within the Church and ensure the content on the site is valid, reliable and useful for both church members and those considering visiting or worshipping at St George’s.

Working with our Chaplain, Council and Magazine Editor, as well as our social media and marketing group, you will prepare web content, draft or select interesting news stories, remove old content, and ensure the site stays fresh and up to date.

This can be done from home. All you need is your computer, or even just your phone!

Volunteer Coordinator

The success of the Malaga Chaplaincy is heavily dependent on the kindness of members of the congregation carrying out a range of functions in a volunteer capacity. As with many churches, our pool of volunteers has shrunk somewhat resulting in an unsustainable reliance on a small number of people.

As a result, we are keen to engage a Volunteer Coordinator, themselves a volunteer, to help us identify areas in which additional volunteer activity would be beneficial, to promote the opportunity of voluntary service that the church provides, to reach out to potential volunteers, and help to develop and embed a volunteer culture through training for volunteers and awareness raising with members of the Church.

Working with our Chaplain, Wardens and congregation members, as well as our social media and marketing group, you would be responsible for the selection and fit of would-be volunteers to particular roles within the church and be an ongoing point of contact with them during their volunteering journey at St George´s.

Much of this function can be done from home though from time-to-time meetings with volunteers/potential volunteers would be necessary.
