St George’s Summer Picnic Concerts programme is delighted to present the concert, From Carmen to Piaf, Tango and more! starring Stella Grigorian.
Stella is a Georgian operatic mezzo-soprano who trained at the music academy in Tbilisi. On completing her studies at the Vienna Conservatory, she made her début at the Vienna State Opera in 1998. She has performed in many leading roles, mainly in Austria and Germany but also in France, Switzerland and Denmark. In 2008, she released the album ‘I’m suddenly Spanish’! Stella stepped in at St George’s last year with 2 days’ notice to cover for another singer who had been taken ill, and gave a fabulous concert. Her presence was electric – not just her amazing voice but her charisma, which brought the event alive and left a wonderful memory for those that attended.
She returns to St George’s on Saturday 6th June where she’ll perform highlights from Carmen, homages to Aznavour and Piaf, plus some tango! She will be supported by Damian Whiteley on piano.

Gates & bar open at 7.15pm. The concert starts 8.00pm.
Bring a picnic for intermission. There will be a 45 minute interval during which we invite guests to share and enjoy their picnics.
