The process to appoint the next Archbishop of Canterbury is underway, and a key element is an extensive public consultation taking place during February and March. The themes that emerge through this consultation (along with other input from the Diocese of Canterbury, the Church of England, and the wider Anglican Communion) will inform the Crown Nominations Commission as they seek and select a suitable candidate to be the next Archbishop.
Jonathan Hellewell (the Prime Minister’s Appointments Secretary) and Stephen Knott (the Archbishops’ Secretary for Appointments) would like to hear from you on three key questions:
- What are your hopes for the ministry of the next Archbishop of Canterbury?
- What gifts, qualities, skills and experience do you believe the next Archbishop of Canterbury should have?
- Do you have any names that you wish the Crown Nominations Commission, nominating the next Archbishop of Canterbury, to consider?
