The European Correspondent reported on a recent poll conducted by the European Parliament, which found that 62% of Europeans believe their country’s membership of the EU is a good thing. Apparently this figure has been consistently above 60% for 10 years now, despite variations by country. Young people in particular support a united and ambitious EU, with 74% of 15-24 year olds viewing EU membership as good, compared with only 58% of 55+ year olds.
Spain scores particularly highly, with 72% of its citizens seeing their membership of the EU as a good thing, and 68% believing that EU member states should act in a more united way to address global challenges. Download the Spanish country report (in Spanish) here.
