Bishop Robert Innes, our Diocesan Bishop, is asking for our support this Advent for the Al-Ahli Hospital, located in the south of Gaza City. They face impossible odds: shortages of medicine and essential supplies, dwindling fuel reserves for life-saving equipment, and an ever-growing number of patients in desperate need.
Funds are needed to ensure the hospital remains open and “is equipped to serve those who need it most, not only in moments of immediate crisis but in the long, difficult years of recovery that follow……Demand is relentless. The injuries they see of burns, broken bones and shrapnel wounds are devastating.”
To make matters worse, Al-Ahli Hospital was hit by an airstrike on 13 April 2025, destroying the emergency department and causing the death of a child due to lack of access to appropriate care.
So, this is a very important Appeal and means our money can go directly to the hospital, thanks to church charity, USPG, operating on the ground. Please donate: it will make a difference to people who have faced real suffering. And please pray:
O God, whose heart breaks for the world,
May your justice dwell in the land
May your righteousness abide in fruitful fields
May the effect of righteousness be quietness and trust forever
