A few days ago, Sur reported on plans to build a new park in Malaga on land near the Repsol towers site, to the west of Malaga centre, between Avenidas Juan XXIII and Aurora. It was put forward by the mayor of Malaga almost six years ago.
The park, which will run to 65,000 square metres in size with 3,500 square metre lake in the middle, will contain some 750 trees of 60 species which give it “a forest-like feel”. There will be two dog parks in the area closest to the Avenida de Juan XXIII and two children’s playgrounds, as well as an area for sports and a 1.5km jogging route. The development will also include an underground car park with a capacity of 687 parking spaces on four levels.
Sur has confirmed that “the intention is to start contracting the work… as soon as possible, so that it can begin during the course of next year.”
